Tears as Taraivina Wins Centre Chief Of The Year
Loata Tuvou was all tears when announced the South Pacific Business Development Business Woman of the Year recently.
The Sanasana Villager of Nadroga Province was lost for words when her name was called out.
This is the fourth year SPBD (Fiji) Limited has hosted the awards.
It's mission to uplift the lives of the unemployed women by providing them the necessary assistance to start and expand businesses.
While it was not an event with fancy cocktails and dresses, it was a grand celebration of women who had built their self-confidence and pride in their businesses.
Meanwhile the SPBD, winner of the Inaugural Microfinance Service Provider, has already provided a cumulative of more than $13 million in unsecured loans.
The loans have been given to women for their businesses and for improving their homes and sending their children to school.
SPBD has been implementing informal financial education in their rural villages and the use of a simple financial diary as a tool for managing business and household finances.
The theme of the event was 'Enhancing Women Entrepreneurship through Financial Education.'
It highlighted the importance of educating the women to make better financial decisions not only to improve their businesses.
It was also inculcating the values of good financial management in their respective households.
